LAND FOR SALE 5-19-10 LMS
The city has decided to sell three small lots it owns on Idaho Avenue. The question decided by the Salmon City Council May 19th was the selling price.
The land has been officially appraised at $12,000. Due to the lot sizes the parcel will be sold as a package to allow room for construction.
The council was advised by City Attorney John McKinney that it has the right to set a minimum price and to reject any or all bids made on the property.
Councilman Ron Radford suggested a minimum price of $15,000 and made a motion to that effect. The motion was discussed and the discussion led to a passing vote of four in favor, two opposed. The property will now be advertised at $15,000.
The council heard from City Planner Dan Maiyo who explained changes to Ordinance 10-757. He said the City Planning and Zoning Commission has reviewed a petition from Lemhi County and the Salmon Valley Emergency Medical Technicians to change the zoning designation of property located on the east side of Water Street, 70 feet south of the VanDreff Street intersection, from Medium Density Residential to Core Commercial 1 (CC1).
The lot behind the former location of Quality Motors is vacant and Maiyo said the intent of the zoning change is to bring consistency to the property which now contains both zoning designations. P&Z voted to correct the split zoning discrepancy to accommodate future development consisting of an EMS ambulance building for emergency response services.
Maiyo said the zoning discrepancy was discovered after the land was purchased for the EMTís new ambulance building. He said there was no opposition to the zoning change at any time during the Planning and Zoning process.
The City Council unanimously approved the zoning change by way of a first reading and waiver of second and third readings.
