|INTERIM MANAGER NAMED|
CENTER OPERATIONS 7-7-10 LMS
City Recreation Director Judy Barkley has been appointed as interim director of the Sacajawea Center.
Long time Sacajawea Interpretive, Cultural and Education Center director Angie Hurley resigned last month effective no later than July 30. The Salmon City Council met in special session on June 21st at City Hall to discuss the facilityís future operations.
Prior to the appointment of Barkley there were comments from City Finance Director Amy Fealko, Chamber of Commerce Director Mary Cerise, Deputy City Clerk Mary Benton, JoAnn Wolters and Jim Evans ranging from concerns of a work overload for Barkley, since she would continue in her role as Recreation Director, to the need for a full time director and how weekend and evening events would be covered. They also stated they knew Barkley would give the job her all.
Councilman Jim Baker said he would like to hear input from the centerís partners. Adrienne Trapani had been present at the latest Partnership meeting and she outlined what was discussed. She said the partners emphasized providing customer service and the need for an onsite daytime presence at the facility as well as for evenings and weekends. Trapani said coordination of volunteers was also listed by the partners as a priority for efficient center operations.
The City Council approved a motion for Barkley to act as interim director of the Sacajawea Center until September 30.
