Fire Update August 28, 2010

Jesse Fire

Cooler temperatures and heavy wetting rain last night slowed fire activity on the 20 acre Jesse Fire, burning in the headwaters of Jesse Creek seven miles northwest of Salmon, Idaho. The fire is just east of the Ridge Road within the Salmon City watershed.

The Sawtooth Interagency and the Black Mountain Hot Shot crews and two engines were released from the fire late yesterday. One engine crew, ten members of McCall Smokejumpers and four members Salmon Interagency Crew 7 are still on the fireline.

Bare Basin Fire The Bare Basin fire three miles southeast of Corn Creek has been contained. Nine fire fighters are still working on the fire.

South Zone Fires

Papoose Fire

The Valley Fire which was burning four miles northwest of the Pinyon Peak Lookout has been controlled.

Papoose fire

The Papoose fire is being allowed to continue to burn for resource benefit in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. The fire is currently 15 aces and located north of Papoose Lake in the northwest corner of the Middle Fork RD.
