DATE SET FOR JUDICIAL CONFIRMATION HEARING 5-18-11 LMS

The Salmon City Council has passed Resolution 2011-2 which authorizes the execution and delivery of a loan agreement with the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality. The loan will be used for mandated upgrades to the cityís waste water treatment system and facility. Adoption of the resolution at the councilís May 18th meeting was a necessary step towards the eventual filing of a petition for Judicial Confirmation. The roll call vote in favor of the action was unanimous.

A public hearing on obtaining Judicial Confirmation for the wastewater system project was set for June 15th and will take place during the regular meeting of the Salmon City Council.

As of May 18th the Idaho Department of Transportation was planning to begin working on the Main Street Bridge railing by May 24th and estimated the work will take two weeks. The next step in the bridge rehabilitation project that began a year ago is an asphalt coating on the deck. Mayor Leo Marshall told the council the state had chosen the Memorial Day weekend for the asphalt job. In Salmon that date is not only the Memorial Day holiday it is also High School graduation and rodeo weekend. He said the city has asked the state to reschedule the asphalt project.

Two requests pertaining to this summerís July 4th Salmon River Days event were granted by the council. The first was for a parade day closure of Church Street between Shoup and Shanafelt Streets from 8AM to 4PM. The section of street is in front of the Calvary Church where a church-hosted sidewalk social has taken place on parade day for the past two years.

The second request came from the Salmon Valley Chamber of Commerce and asked that a portion of Water Street be closed for the Salmon River Days Street Fair. That street will be closed between Main and VanDreff on Friday and Saturday, July 1st and 2nd.

The next meeting of the Salmon City Council is scheduled for June 1st at 6PM in the Salmon Valley Center meeting room. Public participation is invited.
