DEADLINE FOR CANDIDACY NEARS 9-7-11 LMS

Persons interested in running for a seat on the Salmon City Council in November’s General Election have until this Friday, September 9, at 5PM to file a Declaration of Candidacy.

There are four openings on the council plus a four year mayoral term. Three of the council openings are for four year terms and one is for a one year term.

The candidacy declaration must specify the office being sought and affirm that the candidate is eligible to run. Requirements include; being at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of Salmon living within the city for at least 30 days. The candidate’s voter registration must match the address of the residence listed on the declaration.

Candidates must either provide a $40 non-refundable filing fee or a Petition of Candidacy signed by at least five qualified city electors. The signatures will be verified by the County Clerk’s office.

Declarations of Candidacy forms are available at City Hall in the office of the City Clerk. City Hall office hours are from 8AM to 4:45PM.
