PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE REPORTS TO COUNCIL 11-2-11 LMS
All city committees have been asked to prepare a list of their suggestions on how to use the city’s available Capital Improvement Fund monies.
At the November 2nd meeting of the Salmon City Council Parks and Recreation Committee Chairman, councilman Jim Kluesner, identified his committee’s priorities as; the City Park swimming pool, sidewalks and a cement floor. The recommendations will be sent to the city Finance Committee for review.
Kluesner reported that requested contract agreements have been received from the Salmon Hockey Association and the Salmon Baseball Association but so far they have heard nothing from the adult softball organization, the girl’s softball group or the Lemhi Baseball Association. He said the Parks and Recreation Committee needs those signed agreements in order to include the groups in priority scheduling. City Councilman Fred Waidely will be contacting each and encouraging them to submit the agreements.
Kluesner said the city swimming pool was officially closed on Wednesday, October 26. He said City Park will be closed when the golf course closes for the season.
The committee also discussed the status of heated restrooms on city properties. According to Parks Superintendent Charley Cockrell the restroom on Island Park will be closed in mid November and according to Sacajawea Center Director Judy Barkley the heated restroom at the center will remain open all winter.
Meetings of the Parks and Recreation Committee are open to the public and public participation is invited. The committee’s next meeting is set for November 22 at 4:30 PM in the Salmon Valley Center meeting room.
