PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE 1-4-12 LMS

Fred Waidely, acting chairman of the city’s Public Works Committee, brought the Salmon City Council up to date January 4th on an issue before that committee during its December 14th meeting.

There has been a request to vacate a dead end section of North Church Street. The section is 70 feet long and 60 feet wide. It is not a developed city street. A private driveway at the north end of the short section provides access to the area behind Discovery Care Center. There is a structure in that right-of-way believed to be a small storage shed.

Waidely said a water line runs underground on the east side of the right-of-way and that Public Works Superintendent Mickey Verbeck has confirmed it is not part of the city’s water line system.

The street vacation request was forwarded to the city for its consideration, contingent upon the official vacation paper-work being filed.

The next meeting of the Public Works Committee will be announced at the January 18 council meeting.
