PREPARING FOR VISITORS 6-19-13 LMS
The Goldwing Motorcycle Club will be coming to Salmon August 30 for a two-day pre-Labor Day gathering of members from throughout the region.
Mayor Leo Marshall told the June 19 meeting of the Salmon City Council that this event has been in the works since last October. Plans are being made for local dignitaries to welcome the group which will be arriving on at least 180 classic touring bikes, most with dual riders. A welcoming dinner will be held and an ice cream social is being organized along with a special after dark parade featuring all the fully lighted machines coasting down Main Street. Marshall said the Goldwing members will also be hosting a safety demonstration. More definite times and places will be announced prior to the event.
The Salmon City Council has voted to officially notify the state it would like to adopt a portion of highway on 93 North. The segment available for adoption begins at the Lemhi Hole and continues for two miles to the north. The thinking behind the adoption is to create an opportunity for the city staff to gather outside the office once in a while, in a group effort to clean debris from along the highway and assure a welcoming entrance to Salmon. Councilman Jesse Bender instigated the idea with the thought of also inviting members of the county staff to join the effort as well as the after-work barbeques.
