LOT REQUEST APPROVED 7-18-13 LMS

Local Option Tax (LOT) Chairman Jim Bockelman presented the City Council with one funding request at its July 17 meeting and it was approved unanimously.

The $1750 request was from the Salmon Search and Rescue to support its yearly Luau on the River fund raising event. The money amounts to 78 percent of the total event budget and will be used to pay for the musical entertainment, advertising, decorations, porta potties, nonalcoholic drinks and raffle tickets.

Bockelman said last yearís Luau drew over 250 people with half of them coming from out of town. He said Salmon Search and Rescue is a one hundred percent volunteer, nonprofit organization that serves the community and its visitors every day of the year.

All proceeds from the Luau on the River go towards Search and Rescue supplies and equipment and for training program costs.

Bockelman said the LOT Commission recommended council approval of the request and the council agreed. The only change was removing the cost of a shuttle driver from the list of costs to be covered.

The Salmon Search and Rescue Luau on the River fund raising event is set for Saturday evening, July 27th.
