PARKS & RECREATION TEAM REPORT 8-21-13 LMS

Parks & Recreation Team Chairman Jim Kluesner brought the Salmon City Council August 21 meeting up to date on the team’s latest meeting.

Kluesner said City Recreation Director Judy Barkley announced to the team that she is retiring. She said she would like to continue to conduct the Aerobics lessons for seniors and also the fitness workout classes. She commented that the swimming pool has run more smoothly this summer than any year since she has been overseeing it.

Kluesner said the PH level at the swimming pool has been good all summer long. The team was informed that the barbeque stands at the Rotary Pavilion are badly rusted. Kluesner said it was decided that Councilman Jim Bockelman will ask the Rotary Club if it wants to repair them. If not other options will be sought.

Kluesner said there was a discussion about the water and power bills. City Finance Director Amy Fealko will be asked for a breakdown of power costs for pumps used by the Golf Course and by the city and those costs will be further discussed by the Finance Team.

The team is recommending to the mayor that pool manager Ashley Varley be named to fill the Parks and Recreation Team vacancy left by Barkley’s retirement.

The next meeting of the Parks and Recreation Team will be September 10 at 10AM at City Park.
