TEAM REPORTS 12-18-13 LMS

Reports to the December 18 meeting of the Salmon City Council included an account of topics discussed by the Public Works and Public Safety Teams.

Team Chairman and Councilman Fred Waidely told the council the Public Works Team met on December 11th and that the topic of discussion was storm water drainage at the intersection of VanDreff and Water Streets.

Waidely said city Public Works Superintendent Harry Shanafelt and the Public Works Department will investigate the feasibility of changing the drainage grade and/or installing another drain at the north west corner of the intersection/

In his Public Safety Team report, team chairman and Councilman Ken Hill said the Water Street parking situation was discussed at its December 18 meeting. At issue is the traffic congestion and related safety concerns that occur when the bus from the Carmen School is either picking up or delivering students.

Hill said no specific conclusions were reached and that the principal of the Carmen School will be invited to the next Public Safety Team meeting to help consider alternative bus stop locations.

Hill reported that the team also began the process of looking into current parking regulations and fines for violations. He said it was concluded that both are sorely in need of revisions. The Public Safety Team will be looking at some proposed changes.

The next Public Safety Team meeting will take place January 15 beginning at 4PM. The Public Works Team will be meeting January 8 at 2PM. Both meetings will take place in the Salmon Valley Center meeting room and are open to the public.
