SACAJAWEA TEAM PLANS AHEAD 12-18-13 LMS
The Sacajawea Interpretive Center will be starting the new year with a Winter Wellness Program which will fit nicely into all the good-health resolutions local residents made on January 1st.
In his Sacajawea Center Team report, team chairman and Councilman Fred Waidely said the program is scheduled to run January through March and will offer various health and fitness wintertime activities. He said many different topics will be covered by a variety of presenters. A flyer will be available soon featuring information about the program.
Waidely said the Food for Thought Program initiated last year will continue this year. This year’s theme will be “Wilderness Adventures.” Plans are already being formulated for the center’s 2014 Chokecherry Days and Waidely said input on possible activities is welcome from local residents, center partners and other groups.
Center Director Lin Gray presented the team with a proposed fee schedule as well as rental agreements for the facility and its equipment. The proposals will first be presented to City Finance Director Amy Fealko for her review and then to the City Council.
Waidely said the team will review the center’s Master Plan and that input from center partners is deemed necessary to update the center’s Mission Statement. He said those topics will be an ongoing effort in 2014.
A report of December rental activity at the facility shows 13 groups have booked 14 rentals for December and that the Forest Service has booked several days in January.
The next meeting of the Sacajawea Center Team will be January 8 at 11:30 AM in the facility’s Learning Center. The public is welcome to attend.
