|VEHICLE PARTS STOLEN|
REWARD OFFERED 4-6-14
On Monday, March 24th, 2014, the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office was advised of an abandoned vehicle on Black Rock road, approximately 4-5 miles above the end of the payment. The vehicle was a 2004 red Chevrolet pick-up registered to Samuel Deleon of Elko, Nevada.
Mr. Deleon was contacted and we were advised that Mr. Deleon’s son was the possible operator, and his whereabouts were unknown.
A check of the vehicle by our office determined that the operator was more than likely okay, however, the vehicle slid off of the roadway in snow and ice. The owner was notified of its location and informed of his responsibility to remove the vehicle when the weather permitted. The vehicle was marked with “Sheriff” evidence tape advising the public to “keep out”.
On Friday, April 4, 2014, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted and informed that this vehicle on Black Rock road was being stripped by unknown individuals. A check of the area indicated that unknown subjects had removed the evidence tape and had proceeded to remove one tire, the grill, headlights, tail-light and had attempted to remove the interior door and/or lock controls on the driver’s side. The rear cargo cover had also been removed and was lying in front of the truck.
These individuals could be charged with theft, malicious injury to property and tampering with a motor vehicle. A $200 reward is being offered in connection to this investigation. The vehicle has since been towed to Salmon by the owner.
The Sheriff is requesting anyone with information about the theft or vandalism to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 756-8980, or you can call the tip line at 756-INFO (756-4636), and remain anonymous.
