SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITY 4-16-14 LMS
The Sacajawea Interpretive Center will be hiring an aide for the upcoming Summer season. The May 15 through September 15 position is listed as not to exceed $5,000 for the season or to exceed 32 hours per week.
The job opening was relayed to the Salmon City Council by Sacajawea Center Team Chairman Fred Waidely at the councilís April 16 meeting. Further information on the opening can be obtained by contacting Center Director Lin Grey at 756-1188.
Waidely told his fellow councilmen that Americans with Disabilities Act compliance issues identified at the center were discussed and prioritized at the teamís April 9 meeting and will be resolved this Summer. He said some items will require assistance from the Public Works Department and the center will be coordinating the project list with the department.
A Professional Services Agreement between the city and Jeremy Drake was reviewed by the Sacajawea Center Team and forwarded to the City Council with a recommendation to approve the agreement again this year. Under the agreement Drake is allowed to graze up to four horses at any one time in the pasture of the Horse Exhibit Area from April through November of 2014. The livestock, which includes miniature horses, is the featured attraction for visitors to the horse exhibition area of the center. In return for pasturing he is responsible for maintaining fencing and access gates around the pasture, harrowing the ground in the Spring, providing adequate stock water and monitoring grazing. He also makes wagon rides available at special events.
The City Council unanimously approved the professional agreement with Drake for 2014.
Waidely said the Summer Docents Program has started its training however, four or five more docents are needed to complete the roster. He also said the Memorandum of Understanding Addendum is still awaiting a response from center members.
It was announced that Fish and Wildlife Biologist Jody Brostrom will be providing the center with an intern for three weeks. The intern will be there to present various programs during the upcoming season.
The next meeting of the Sacajawea Team will be May 14 at 4:15PM and is open to the public.
