SUNDAY LIQUOR SALES 6-9-14 LMS
North Fork business owner George Ambrose attended the June 9 meeting of the Lemhi County Commissioners to ask that the sale of packaged liquor be allowed at the North Fork Store on Sundays.
Ambrose spoke of the huge influx of national and international river clientele that passes through North Fork every season. He said a tremendous amount of recreationists arrive on Sundays to embark on their five to seven day Salmon River adventures and are appalled to learn they cannot purchase packaged liquor. He said it is not a matter of money to the store it is a matter of perception of the area. Ambrose said the visitors have friends to whom they may or may not recommend the river experience. He said the store bases its business plan on what its customers ask of it. He said the Sunday sale of packaged liquor would create positive feedback and support the local tourism trade.
In Idaho the sale of packaged liquor on Sunday is by county option and is enacted by way of resolution. The county commissioners unanimously approved and enacted the needed resolution to allow the North Fork Store to sell packaged liquor on Sundays, beginning June 15.
