|FOREST SERVICE ANNOUNCES BURN|
Prescribed Fire Implementation 9-23-14
Plans are underway later this week to implement the South Fork of Williams Creek prescribed fire project. The project includes 1082 acres above the South Fork of Williams Creek. Weather and fuels conditions will continue to be monitored and burning will be implemented if conditions are favorable to achieve burn objectives.
The purpose of this burn is to modify fuels to restore ecological function, to promote fire resilient species by regenerating aspen and other fire resistant species, and to reduce potential for high intensity wildfire and its effects on wildlife, riparian areas, and aquatic systems.
For further information please contact Mike Smith, Fuels Specialist, at the North Fork Ranger District, 208-865-2700 or Tom Schultz, Fire Management Officer, at the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District, 208-756-5200.
