LOT COMMISSION MEETING 10-1514 LMS

The Local Option Tax Commission (LOT) held a business meeting on September 30 to discuss forming a sub-committee to review the final reports on how LOT monies granted were spent. Councilman Jim Bockelman told the October 15 meeting of the Salmon City Council that under the new LOT system the post event reports will be reviewed prior to submission of reimbursement requests to City Finance Director Amy Fealko.

He said the commission also went over the newly written policy updates and procedural changes which include the schedule for future LOT meetings and changing the meeting location to the Sacajawea Center. Other topics of discussion involved rewording to some of the newly written procedural policy sections.

The commission read a letter of resignation from Jen Larson and then discussed how to approach finding a new person to fill the vacant seat on the LOT Commission.

The Local Option Tax Commission discussed ways to raise community awareness about how LOT monies have been used to benefit the community. It also discussed plans for a January seminar to educate potential recipients in the new LOT application process.

Bockelman said a press release outlining all the ways LOT money has been used in Lemhi County is being written and after approval by the commission it will be submitted to the newspaper.
