HIGHWAY CLEAN UP 4-9-15 lms
Two miles along Highway 93 North were cleaned of litter Thursday, April 9, just before the annual Salmon Select Horse Sale and Salmon Select Mule Sale company arrived.
A total of 15 employees from the city and the county worked for an hour and a half searching for litter along both sides of the roadway and filled 15 large plastic bags with the recovered trash. Some notable collectables were cell phones and fishing lures.
In 2013 the City of Salmon and Lemhi County joined a state litter cleanup program by adopting a stretch of roadside that begins at the Lemhi Hole area and extends two miles to the north. Twice each year employees from the county and the city meet for lunch and litter pick up. The first cleanup of 2015 happened to fall just before the big Horse Sale weekend so, thanks to city and county employees, roadsides along the route to the Fairgrounds were especially clean for this year’s visitors.
