ARBOR DAY 4-15-15 LMS

Mayor Leo Marshall has officially proclaimed this Friday, April 24, as Arbor Day in the city of Salmon and urges all citizens to celebrate the day with efforts to protect our trees and woodlands. He recommends a great way to honor the day is to plant a tree.

Arbor Day is celebrated throughout the nation and the world thanks to J. Sterling Morton who in 1872 proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture that a special day be set aside for planting trees.

The city of Salmon is proud to qualify as a member of the Tree City USA program which has a membership of 3,400 cities nationwide.

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the US Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
