AFTERNOON LIGHTNING STARTS NEW FIRES 8-11-15

A lightning storm passed over the Salmon-Challis National Forest on Monday afternoon and as a result three fires have been reported.

Gorley Fire: A single tree fire on the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District. Currently staffed with two rappellers.

Sunflower Fire: 1/10 of an acre fire in grass and ponderosa pine on the Middle Fork Ranger District. Currently staffed.

Lake Fire: 1/10 of an acre fire in grass on the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District.

In addition, Salmon-Challis National Forest fire resources are assisting the Bitterroot National Forest with a fire in the Lost Trail Ski area that is 1/10 of an acre in size.

There is a potential that more fires will be located in over the next couple of days.
