FIRE CREWS ASSIST FOREST VISITOR WITH MEDICAL EMERGENCY 8-21-15
On Thursday, August 20, 2015 the Centennial Type II (T2) Initial Attack (IA) crew of the Island Park Ranger District, Caribou-Targhee National Forest was demobilizing off of the Elkhorn Fire on the Salmon Challis National Forest.
While traveling back to Salmon, the crew came across an individual who was in dire need of medical support. The crew worked as a team and quickly contacted Central Idaho Dispatch Center. Central Idaho Dispatch Center was able to contact Air Ambulance and Lemhi County Medical Personnel. The crew established a helispot for the Air Ambulance. While awaiting the air ambulance, the crew was able to stabilize the victim with emergency medical equipment. When the air ambulance arrived, they were able to help support the medical transport and conduct a thorough transition.
The Salmon Challis National Forest commends this great work and coordination by the Centennial T2 IA Wildland Fire Crew in order to help a forest visitor in need of medical attention.
