ELECTION RESULTS 11-4-15 LMS
An initiative to criminalize and penalize establishment of a White Water Kayak Park on city property failed in Tuesday’s election on a final vote of 560 opposed and 239 in favor.
In the City of Salmon Mayoral contest incumbent Leo Marshall drew 534 votes compared to 332 votes cast for office contender and former councilman Jim Kluesner. Marshall was first appointed to the council in 2001 then went on to win two four year terms. In 2010 he was appointed to fill an unexpired term as mayor and in 2011 won a four year mayoral term.
There were three seats up for election on the City Council and all three incumbents, Ken Hill, Jim Bockelman and Fred Waidely, ran for reelection. Others running for the same positions were Neal James, Carla Evans and Gayla Lesley.
The three receiving the most votes were Ken Hill with 498 votes, Jim Bockelman with 493 votes and council newcomer Neal James with 459 votes. Incumbent councilman Fred Waidely came in fourth with 370 votes followed by Gayla Lesley with 317 votes and Carla Evans with 288 votes.
Hill was appointed in June of 2011 to fill a council vacancy then elected to a four year term in November of that year. Waidely was appointed in 2011 to fill the vacancy left when Marshall was appointed as mayor. He was elected to a four year term in the November 2011 election. This will be Bockelman’s second four year term on the City Council.
The winners will fill the City Council roster which includes Council President Jim Baker, Russ Chinske and Rob Jackson.
