The Forest Service has issued a Red Flag warning for today due to expected high winds and dry conditions throughout the valley.
The Salmon-Challis National Forest responded to two fires over the weekend.
The Turner Fire on the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District was controlled as of yesterday morning. Fire size is 0.2 acres, staffed with eight (8) firefighters and one Type II helicopter. Smoke from this fire could be seen from Salmon on Friday night.
The Bell Fire on the Lost River Ranger District was contained as of Sunday evening. Fire size is 4.3 acres, staffed with 12 firefighters, one Type VI engine, one Type I helicopter, one Type II helicopter, and one Type III helicopter.
The Salmon-Challis National Forest has sent the Central Idaho 20 person Type II crew, a Type I and Type III helicopter, and miscellaneous overhead to support the Cliff Creek Fire on the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
Salmon-Challis National Forest fire danger is HIGH. Make sure your campfire is dead out. If itís too hot to touch, itís too hot to leave.
