U.S. CAPITOL CHRISTMAS TREE TO VISIT SALMON NOVEMBER 12TH

For more than 50 years, a Christmas tree has graced the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol for the holiday season. The Payette National Forest in partnership with nonprofit Choose Outdoors will bring this special gift from Idaho to Washington, D.C. for the 2016 season. The tour involves more than 25 communities along the way, including an appearance in Salmon on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at 204 Main Street.

The tree is being cut today, November 2nd, near McCall and prepared for the 2,000-mile expedition.

Festivities being held while the tree is in Salmon:

Smokey Bear will be onsite with his friends from the Salmon-Challis National Forest & the Bureau of Land Management—Salmon Field Office

Christmas Tree Tags available for sale—cash or check only

4th Grade—Every Kid in a Park Passes & Free Christmas Tree Tag (must have your Every Kid in the Park Pass)

Learn about Winter Recreation opportunities

Steele Memorial Medical Center will be providing hot drinks

Activities are open to the public and FREE for all to enjoy.
