WHITEWATER REPORT 12-20-16 LMS
The Salmon Whitewater Park Association submitted a report to the Salmon City Council’s December 20 meeting. The report of activities was written by SWPA representative Breann Green and read to the council by Council President Jim Baker.
The report read: “SWPA and our engineers have continued to work with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration,) IDFG (Idaho Department of Fish and Game,) Army Corps of Engineers and the Coast Guard to develop a design that meets fish passage criteria for all area species, through conference calls and individual meetings.
“SWPA continues to fundraise for the project, including a raffle for a custom built wooden drift boat and our upcoming winter fundraiser. Our winter fundraiser will be held at the Sacajawea Center December 21st, highlighting a Teton Gravity Research film and chili feed.”
Councilman Rob Jackson inquired why Green was not present to deliver the report because he had some questions to ask. He was told Green had been given permission to submit a written report due to her very recent birth of a baby. Jackson said his concern was that while fish passage is mentioned in the report there is no information as to jet boat passage and he wondered if that is being addressed.
Now that there is an official agreement in effect between the city and SWPA, regular progress reports will be scheduled.
