EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE FOR THE SALMON RIVER ROAD 2-9-17
Due to emergency public health and safety concerns in the presence of avalanches occurring in the area, the Salmon-Challis National Forest has implemented an Emergency Road Closure Order (#04-13-17-587) for the Salmon River Road (#60030) from North Fork, Idaho to the Corn Creek boat ramp, North Fork Ranger District. The Order will remain in effect through March 1, 2017 or until terminated, whichever occurs first.
The Salmon-Challis National Forest will release information when the Order is terminated.
The Forest Officials would like to remind visitors that current conditions are very unstable across the forest and there are hazards associated with traveling in and around the Forest. Roads across the forest, including but not limited to, Williams Creek road (#021), and Deep Creek road (#101) from the Williams Creek Summit to Panther Creek have experienced over 50 slides in recent days. Some of the slides have completely blocked the roadway with compacted snow and timber. Forest visitors must be prepared to stay longer than expected due to changing circumstances as the changing weather conditions can rapidly change conditions on the ground.
For more information on current conditions, please contact your local district office or the Public Lands Center in Salmon at 208-756-5100.
