BARN BIDS OPENED 10-10-17 LMS
The Lemhi County Commissioners opened two bids Tuesday morning, October 10, for construction of a new livestock exhibition barn at the Lemhi County Fairgrounds.
The first bid read by Commissioner’s Chairman Ken Miner came from Wright Brothers – The Building Company, located in Eagle, Idaho. Their listed cost to build the structure was $698,786.
The next bid opened was from Mark Guho Construction Company of Boise. That bid came to $785,500.
Prior to reading the quoted figures the unopened envelopes were checked by Clerk of the Court Terri Morton to see if all of the bid requirements were included and each bid was found to be complete. The cost estimates were more than expected.
Commissioner Brett Barsalou made a motion to sign a notice of award based on a final review. It passed unanimously.
The proposed new construction is to replace the Fairgrounds building that collapsed under the incredibly heavy snow load of last Winter. The footprint of the new building is the same as the original. The exhibition barn was covered under the county’s Idaho Counties Risk Management Program insurance policy.
Members of the County Fairboard, county staff, insurance representatives and residents of the community have been working since the Spring thaw to clear the debris and navigate through the insurance requirements and documentation. The county’s ICRMP insurance company will be informed of the bid and the county’s subsequent action.
Steele Memorial Medical Center Chief Financial Officer James Peterson and Board Chair Kimberly Nelson presented the commissioners with the list of names recommended to fill three board vacancies. Nelson said the first two people recommended are reappointments. They are Linda Price and Kristin Troy. The third recommendation for a four year term is Dennis Lile. Lile is a former Hospital Board Chairman who has been retired for a year and is now eligible and willing to resume board membership.
The commissioners approved the recommendations.
